Gives music fans best discovery experience in the industry, adding millions of dance tracks – including thousands of vinyl-only tracks – to Shazam’s 35M+ database
Winter Music Festival – Miami, FL –March 25, 2014 - Shazam® today announces an exclusive new partnership with Juno, the world’s largest dance music store to expand the number of dance tracks in its database, particularly vinyl-only releases. Juno will share its catalogue of four million dance music download tracks and, for the first time, making all new vinyl releases available for identification through Shazam.
“Juno has the world’s most comprehensive catalogue and widest source of genres in dance music and we are very excited to form this exclusive partnership with them, especially as it includes vinyl,” said Shazam’s VP of Music and Content, Will Mills. “Vinyl music is seeing a resurgence in the industry, with sales at their highest for 15 years. Crucially some of the most important and exciting new music is released on vinyl first before later hitting digital. So this gives Shazam’s 420 million global users an even better experience with the world’s newest and most innovative music which is sometimes beyond the digital ecosystem.”
The new partnership gives clubbers a fast and easy way to find out the name and artist of their favorite tracks along with easy access to purchase them from Juno. As of this announcement, Juno’s vast database has already been incorporated into Shazam’s music database, and will continue to grow with thousands of new and exclusive tracks every week.
“We are really excited to share our unique catalogue through this new partnership with Shazam,” said Richard Atherton, MD Juno. “Many of the releases we stock and sell are often not available on commercial download stores for weeks after their release on Juno, so we believe that we can bring an extra dimension to Shazam’s already excellent service.”
Juno reports that vinyl sales have seen growth in excess of 20% in the last year with no signs of slowing. Founded in 1997 and based in London, Juno is the largest independent dance music store in the world, selling records, CDs, downloads, and DJ and studio equipment. With more than four million dance music downloads currently available, Juno continues to grow each week with more than 400 new vinyl releases and thousands of digital tracks of exclusive tracks by the world’s top – and emerging – dance music artists.
